2020 Reading Goals

Happy New Year 🎉

Starting a new year always feels exciting, doesn’t it? It feels like you get a fresh start.

Here are my reading goals for 2020:

  1. Read 100 books
This will be my fourth year setting this goal for myself!
  2. Borrow more books from the library
In 2019, I really ramped up how much I was using my local library and it’s been a pleasure to do so! I really want to continue doing it this year.
  3. Be pickier when it comes to requesting ARCs
In the beginning, I was requesting as many as I could because I was never sure if I’d get approved for them or not. But this led to me being very overwhelmed by the number of ARCs I had to give feedback for. Not this year! I’m only going to request the ones that I am absolutely dying to read.
  4. Read 50 percent of my books by POC, LGBTQIA, and female authors
I’ve set this goal for myself for quite a few years now. And I manage to hit it every time!
  5. Read at least 12 non-fiction books
This is another goal I continue to set for myself, but I think it’s important to always read outside of your comfort zone. And non-fiction can be really scary for me!
  6. Continue to use a spreadsheet and a bullet journal for tracking my reading
I’m good about tracking my reading through Goodreads, but I’d like to use other means too. I love staying organized especially when it has to do with reading!
  7. Read one play
I’m slowly making my way through Shakespeare’s work. But I’d also like to branch out to some other playwrights as well.
  8. Read five classics
At this beginning of last year, I combined a bunch of “100 Books to Read Before You Die” lists and have been slowly making my way through them. I’d like to read five books from this list!
